Introducing the 2014-2015 Seasons’ Pass Artist

I am very excited, and very humbled to announce that I have been selected as the 2014-2015 Seasons’ Pass artist for the Rhode Island Blood Center. On Tuesday, March 4 the Rhode Island Blood Center held a press conference, where they unveiled this years work of art by 2013-2014 Seasons’ Pass artist Christine McIntyre-Hannon.

At this press conference the RI Blood Center announced my selection as the artist for the upcoming year! I cannot even begin to express all of the emotions that I feel – excited, proud, flattered, intimidated, and even a little bit scared!

What is the Seasons’ Pass program?

Each year the Rhode Island Blood Center commissions a local artist to create a unique piece of art that portrays the mission of the blood center. Prints of the art piece are given to donors that donate 4 times a year, and to organizations that sponsor multiple blood drives. It is a way for the RI Blood Center to thank it supporters in its mission to save lives.

The program has been in place for 11 years, and each year it has helped increase the number of donations that the Blood Center receives. The Blood Center has over 10,000 people who donate blood 4 or more times a year! They collect between 240 and 280 pints of blood a day. The Seasons Pass program helps to keep donations coming in, and those donations help to save lives, not just in Rhode Island but all over New England!

Who are the past artists?

The 11 past Seasons’ Pass Artists are an amazing collection of talented artists from across the state. Many are artists that have inspired me over the years, and I have spent countless hours looking at their work. To have been asked to follow in their footsteps as this years Seasons’ Pass Artist is not just an honor – it is very flattering, and a bit on the intimidating side! Here is a list of the artists, I encourage you to click on the links are read a little bit about them, and explore their art.

What Will be my Piece of Art?

Over the course of the next year, I will be creating one special piece of art that will be used exclusively by the Blood Center. What will the piece be? Well, that my friends is a secret, that will be revealed at another press conference one year from now. I highly encourage you to keep up with all of the activity over the next year by signing up for my newsletter!
