Seascape Photography of the Newport Bridge

Seascape Panorama of the Newport Bridge and Surrounding Harbor after Sunset

Rhode Island is full of of iconic landmarks, and the Newport Bridge has been the subject of many fine art seascape photographs over the years. On a recent summer night I was in the area, and decided to visit Storer Park in Newport for a little seascape photography myself!

Newport at Sunset

Storer Park is a small park located right on the water along the Goat Island connector that leads to the tiny island that is home to the Hyatt Regency Newport and affords a spectacular view of the Newport Bridge! What I love about this location though is the sweeping views that include the connector bridge that leads to Goat Island on the left, and the Newport Bridge off to the right that connects the city of Newport to Conanicut Island at the entrance to Narragansett Bay.

On this summer evening the cove was filled with boats of all shapes and sizes, and the sounds of music, voices and laughter danced across the water as I watched the sun drop below the horizon. My favorite time of day is the minutes just after the sunset, when the sky is full of beautiful soft colors, and the clouds come to life.

As I looked at the scene unfolding before me I struggled to single out one element that I really liked, and it struck me that this would be the ideal occasion to create a panorama! I created several different photographs of the scene, adjusting the camera after each exposure. The multiple photographs are then stitched together to create one seascape photograph that contains the entire width of the scene. Panoramas are a type of photography that I have never tried before, but I rather enjoyed it, and I think that you will be seeing more of them from me in the near future!

I hope you have enjoyed my seascape panorama of the Newport Bridge in my beautiful home state of Rhode Island. I encourage you to take a visit to my fine art print gallery where you can see and purchase many of my photographs!
