Fine Art Photographer • Seascapes, Landscapes & Stories of Calm
Hi, I’m Mike Dooley, a fine art photographer. However, I am also a veteran, storyteller, printer, webmaster, receptionist, IT team, and occasionally coffee-fetcher. Basically, the whole staff around here—all rolled into one guy with a camera.
I create fine art photography for people and spaces that crave calm—images that slow the room down, let the shoulders drop, and invite a long breath.
Why I Pick Up a Camera
For me, photography isn’t just about clicking a shutter. Instead, it’s about noticing the quiet moments—the way light slips across water, how waves repeat like a steady heartbeat, how the horizon reminds us that things can feel wide and possible again.
My work is about taking a world that often feels overwhelming and gently rearranging it until it breathes.
I photograph seascapes and landscapes not to impress, but to restore—to offer moments of visual stillness that live well in homes, offices, medical spaces, and anywhere people could use a pause.

My Journey
My path to photography wasn’t linear.
I served in the United States Air Force, then later navigated life with a spinal cord injury—an experience that reshaped how I move through the world and how deeply I value presence, patience, and perspective.
Photography became more than a hobby. It helped me make sense of the world. It showed me how to find order in uncertainty. And it lets me share stories that remind people they are not alone.
That lived experience informs every image I make.
Behind the Scenes
I’m involved in every step of the process—from planning and photographing to editing, printing, and delivering finished artwork.
Each photograph is personally reviewed, printed with intention, and prepared to live well on your wall. This hands-on approach means the work stays consistent, thoughtful, and true to its purpose—from printer to wall.
Farm to table for your soul.
Selected Experience & Recognition
Rather than a résumé, here’s a short, curated snapshot of the experience that shapes my work:
- Seasons Pass Artist (2014–2015) – featured by NBC News
- Featured / Mentioned by Shutterbug Magazine
- Former President, Photographic Society of Rhode Island (PSRI)
- Instructor & Co-Founder, The Photographers Connection
- Veteran, United States Air Force
These experiences matter—not as trophies, but as proof of commitment to craft, community, and teaching.
The Feel Behind the Frame
I can talk about exposure, ISO, or the Sunny 16 rule—but those are tools, not the point.
What matters is how the photograph feels.
Each image is designed to invite stillness, encourage reflection, and quietly hold space for the viewer. Whether it’s a dramatic shoreline or a subtle shift in light, emotion always comes first.

Where My Work Lives
My fine art photography lives in galleries, corporate offices, medical waiting rooms, restaurants, and private collections.
I believe art belongs in everyday spaces—not just on white gallery walls. Wherever people gather, heal, work, or pause, there’s room for beauty and calm.
More Than a Fine Art Photographer
I try to be approachable—the kind of artist you’d actually want to talk to. Someone you could grab a beer with and talk about light, color, creativity, and life.
My work is personal, but my goal is universal:
to help people feel grounded, inspired, and reminded that beauty still exists—even on chaotic days.
