One of my favorite places to go in Rhode Island has to be Ponagansett Falls in Scituate, Rhode Island. Different seasons, times of day and weather conditions all combine to allow for a wide variety of images. On this trip I arrived in late afternoon, just as a storm was clearing out and leaving clear blue skies behind.
I opted for a slow shutter speed to blur the motion in the falling water, and bracketed my shots to get -2 EV, 0 EV, and +2 EV. I shot on a tripod, and in post blended the 3 exposures together to create this HDR photograph. I love the action and sense of motion in the rushing falls, yet the water above the falls is smooth as glass and gives a great reflection of the stone wall and the trees.
