Master Your Workflow. Transform Your Images. Create with Confidence.
In-person and Online Lightroom Courses in Rhode Island

If Lightroom feels like a mysterious and confusing dark space full of scattered photos and lost edits, this workshop brings the light switch.

Whether you’re brand new to Lightroom Classic or want a solid refresher, this hands-on class will help you finally take charge of your photo library and editing process. No tech snobbery, no jargon-storm, just real skills and clarity.

There are a million Lightroom videos on YouTube, and honestly, many of them are great. But a video can’t look at your image. It can’t answer your question when you raise your hand and say, “Wait… why did that slider just make everything green?”

You can buy presets from amazing photographers, but what happens when they don’t magically transform your photos like you hoped? That’s where real knowledge matters.

In this class, I don’t want you blindly dragging sliders like you’re trying to crack a digital safe. I want you to understand what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. We’re building a workflow, not following a recipe card. I’m not teaching you to heat up someone else’s frozen dinner. I’m teaching you to cook your own meal with confidence, creativity, and control.

Come learn Lightroom the thoughtful way. Slow down, see differently, and edit with intention.

Is Lightroom Good for Beginners?

Adobe Lightroom is not just good for beginners, I think Lightroom is fantastic for beginners! For a long time, the software for photographers was Adobe Photoshop. Incredibly powerful, Photoshop was the defacto standard for photographers for many, many years. We have all heard and used the term “Photoshoped” with regards to photography. I started using Lightroom from almost day one, and have been a huge fan ever since. The learning curve? Very beginner friendly.

Which Lightroom is Best?

There are currently two Lightroom’s, and both are very good. So lets clear the air and sort this confusion out once and for all.

Lightroom Classic

This is the original Lightroom released in 2006 by Adobe to run on a Mac or PC. All of your image files are stored locally on your computer and hard drives.

Lightroom

This instance of Lightroom came out in 2014 for mobile devices, like tablets and phones. Eventually a desktop version was released. All of your image files are stored in the cloud.

Pro Tip

“In the cloud” is just a fancy buzz word that everyone likes to throw around. But what does it mean when it says your images are “In the cloud”. It just means that your images are stored on someone else’s computer!

But which one is best? I honestly do not feel that one is better than the other. I use them both. I have Lightroom Classic on my office computer and on my laptop. I have Lightroom on both my iPhone and on my iPad.

What you’ll need

Explore Images Edited in Lightroom

Curious about what you can do with Lightroom? Take a stroll through the print galleries to see images that have been created in Lightroom. I started using Lightroom in 2008, so every image starts in Lightroom. In the early days, some editing was done in Photoshop, but it has been years since I have edited a photo in Photoshop. No more Layers, no more Curves, no more Dodging and Burning (This is my very favorite technique BTW). Lightroom has all the tools that I need.
