Hello Friends,

📸 Shoot What You Love

Something I’ve always believed — and said out loud more times than I can count — is this: Shoot what you love.

The night before I took this photograph, I had a plan. I’d studied the sunrise angle, checked my apps, picked the perfect spot at Rocky Point. Gear packed. Alarm set. Vision clear.

Then I saw that tree.

It wasn’t part of the plan, but it stopped me in my tracks. I walked past it — twice — before finally listening to that quiet nudge that said, this is the shot.

That image remains one of my favorites. Not because of how it looks, but because of what it taught me: the heart knows. Listen to it.

Shoot what you love. Always.

🎓 Lightroom Workshop — Wickford Art Association

If you’ve been wanting to finally get comfortable in Lightroom, now’s your chance.
Join me for a hands-on workshop at the Wickford Art Association, where we’ll demystify catalogs, sliders, and the “digital darkroom” — together.

I’ll help you make sense of Lightroom so you can focus on what really matters: your photos.
(Seats are limited — visit Wickford Art Association for details.)

🤝 Private Lessons — and Loving It

Lately I’ve been doing a number of private lessons, and honestly, I love it.
There’s something special about seeing that lightbulb moment when someone finally gets exposure, or color, or just starts to see differently.
If that kind of one-on-one learning appeals to you, drop me a note — I’d love to work with you.

🧵 Big News: Brand Ambassador for Red River Paper

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve recently become a Brand Ambassador for Red River Paper.
Printing has always felt like the true completion of a photograph — that moment when pixels become something real.

And here’s the thing: it isn’t magic. It isn’t scary.
If I can do it, you can too.

I’ll be sharing more videos and posts soon about printing, paper choices, and the joy of making your own fine art prints.
If that sounds interesting, stay tuned — and if you’d like to see a few talks or demos on the topic, drop me a line.
Here, there, wherever you happen to find digital Mike.
