I had traveled down to Newport to photograph a lighthouse, carefully composing the scene in front of me. But then, I noticed a lone Adirondack chair someone had placed on the rocks behind me. Something about it drew my eye.

Just as I began adjusting my composition, a sailboat appeared on the horizon. I abandoned the lighthouse entirely and framed the chair and the incoming boat, hoping it would maintain its course. It did, and I captured a few magical frames before it sailed peacefully down the bay.
