I went out to Sculptured Rocks Natural Area in Grafton, New Hampshire expecting waterfalls, and found a dry riverbed instead. Wasn’t the shot I planned on, but I kept walking anyway and came across this heart-shaped impression worn into the granite, with a few stray autumn leaves caught inside it. Small thing, but it stopped me in my tracks.
