Shot in Narragansett, Rhode Island.
The story behind it
I was about 16 the last time I stood on Narragansett Beach without a camera: boom box, Hawaiian Tropic, and a loud, crowded, unforgettable beach. Years later it was a cold winter morning, just me, a thermos of coffee and a tripod. A thin ribbon of pink sat above the horizon over Whale Rock. Subtle, quiet, easy to miss. I almost missed it. I had been telling myself the sky was flat, and then I looked again. It lasted maybe ten minutes. It is one of my favorites, not because it is dramatic, but because it is quiet.
