Jamestown is one of the quietest towns I’ve ever been to. Genuinely unique. I’ll admit — I’m usually either standing under a bridge or standing next to a lighthouse.
For me, Jamestown means sunsets and summer evenings. We make a picnic of it. Roni and the dog sit nearby, crocheting or working on some other crafty thing, while I shoot.
Taylor Point
Most people see the Newport Bridge from the Newport side — heading toward the mansions, the harbor, the city. From Taylor Point, on the Jamestown side, it’s quieter. Less landmark, more something private.
This is where I go for the bridge at night, and it’s where I happened to be the night a blue moon rose right over the span — two rare things lining up at once. It’s also where the fog rolled in one morning and never really lifted — sometimes the weather gives you something quieter than the shot you were chasing, and you learn to work with that.

Beavertail State Park
Rocky shoreline, the lighthouse standing watch at the point. This is classic Jamestown — the kind of place where you can stand for an hour and just watch the water change.
Fort Wetherill
Fort Wetherill has all this history built into it — old fort walls, rocky coast. But sometimes it’s the smallest thing on the ground that stops you, not the big picture.
My Jamestown
Quiet, unhurried, always ending in a sunset — that’s Jamestown. A bridge, a lighthouse, a picnic blanket, Roni and the dog nearby. Some places are about chasing the shot. This one’s about slowing down long enough to get it.
