I’ve only been to Block Island once. My son spent every summer out there for years — through college, and then into his early career as a teacher. Seven or eight summers, all told.
One year, we went out for the weekend, and he took us all over the island. That was the trip where I got to do a ton of photography — one visit, but a good one.

These three were shot at different beaches around the island during that one weekend — including, if I remember right, right around my birthday. Different light, different mood, same island.

One Visit, Worth Remembering
I don’t get out to Block Island often — maybe I’ll only ever have that one trip. But when your son knows a place like the back of his hand and takes the time to show you around it, you pay attention. This is what came of paying attention.
