Natures Gifts Art Exhibit at the Warwick Museum of Art
I am very excited to announce that my landscape photograph “Trees on a Hill” will be on display at the Warwick Museum of Art as part of their “Natures Gifts” art exhibit!
My photograph that is entered in the show is one of my favorites from this past summer. Taken at a farm across the street from an ice cream stand, I can recall the moment as if it were only yesterday.
I was standing in the parking lot preparing to walk to a nearby sunflower field to photograph sunset when I saw this scene developing across the street. My immediate thought was what a view there must be from the top of that hill, and as I stared the trees transformed into a young couple standing on the hill, holding hands watching the sun sink below the horizon, ending the day together.
Gear in hand, I quickly trotted across the street and set up my faithful tripod and camera by the side of the road. Against my cameras advice I intentionally underexposed the photograph, turning the trees into silhouettes, and saturating the blues in the sky. This deep blue really helps the bright white clouds to stand out in the sky as they hide the sun from view.
The “Natures Gifts” exhibit will be on display to the public from November 23, 2013 through December 21, 2013. This is a great way to see the work of some great artists, and to support the local art community here in Rhode Island.
Please join me at the Warwick Museum of Art on Wednesday, December 4th 2013 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm for the opening reception! I hope to get to meet many of you in person, and I look forward to seeing you then!
