Providence Skyline at Dusk Highlights the City Lights
There is something breathtaking about the Providence Skyline at Dusk. The colors, the twinkle of the city lights as the night comes alive combine to transform the city in a magical way.
Providence Skyline at Dusk
Prospect Park is a small park in Providence that sits on College Hill, and is a very popular place for folks to view the sun setting at the end of a long day. Some nights the setting sun is magical, and on other nights it is less then great.
While this night was not exactly spectacular, there was a nice magenta glow in the sky, and I really liked the way it reflected off of the buildings. Dusk is one of my favorite times of day for photography. Shortly after the sun sets, the colors left in the sky provide beautiful, soft light to illumiate the landscape before day gives way to night.
I really struggled trying to find a composition that I was pleased with, and settled on an approach that would play with all of the contrasts in the scene
- the large number of tress in the foreground vs all of the buildings on the horizon
- the old church steeple in front of the new high rises
- the soft colors of the sky against the hard edges of the city buildings
