What is the best camera?

The Best Camera is the Camera that you have with you!

What is the best camera? I hear this question often, and in many cases the answer is simple – the camera that you have with you! The other evening as I sat at my desk at work I could not help but hear a co-worker exclaim “Whoa, look at that sunset!”. I got up and walked over to the windows where my co-worker was standing and could not believe the sunset before me. The colors of the sun reflecting off of the bottoms of the clouds in the sky were breathtaking, and almost a little other worldly! I knew the sunset was only going to last a few minutes, and I did not have any of my camera gear with me. However, I did have my trusty cell phone and knew that its camera would have to do.

No tripod, no exposure control, barely the ability to focus at all. Overall it is not a great photograph, and not something that I would print and hang on a wall. But it is good enough for me to be able to remember the moment, and think back on a pleasant 5 minute break out of my hectic day and recall a pleasant conversation with a co-worker in front of one of natures beauties. I find that it is better to take the photograph with the camera that you do have, then to not take the photograph at all.

I hope you enjoy…
